Why he supports Unifor

“We need a voice. When it comes to a lot of the issues on the floor the company just changes things without input from us,” said Schriver. “People who are injured, for example, need guidance working with WSIB (Workplace Safety Insurance Board). That is true of a lot of issues.”

He would like the union to help ensure management responds to worker issues like an injury in a direct and fair manner.

Schriver sees ergonomics, issues of safety and workload, the pace of assembly now hitting workers as well as hours on the job, as problems that need to be dealt with.

“These are not being addressed the way they should be. Group leaders and management are ignoring them, they hope it will go away rather than deal with it.”
