Unifor pledges to continue supporting Toyota workers trying to organize after a first union vote took place at Toyota plants in Cambridge and Woodstock last week. Unifor had filed an application for certification to represent Toyota Maintenance workers, but the vote did not reach the required threshold.

This is the first union vote to be counted in the Toyota facilities. While Unifor would have preferred a successful outcome, we believe that Toyota maintenance workers can be proud to have had their say in a democratic workplace vote. Many workers voted in favour of being represented by Unifor and we remain hopeful that these workers will soon be part of our union.

The organizing campaign for Toyota production workers continues. Unifor will continue to back Toyota workers in their effort to gain a stronger voice in their workplace until a collective agreement can be reached.
